What are the best professions for Warriors in WoW Forever? Blacksmithing and Mining - and in WoW Forever it isn't close. Blacksmithing makes 21 of the 23 crafted items in our Arms pre-raid list at 60, 23 of 25 for Fury and 20 of 24 for Protection. But there's a twist at 60: almost all of the best Warrior plate can be bought, and for tanks, Engineering starts to look like the better second profession.
We went through our Arms, Fury and Protection Warrior BiS lists - at level 40, level 50, in pre-raid gear at 60 and in raid gear - and counted every crafted item: which profession makes it, and whether it's Binds when picked up (only the crafter can wear it) or Binds when equipped (anyone can sell it to you). Here's what that means for Warrior professions in WoW Forever.

Best professions for Warriors in WoW Forever: the short answer
- Best professions for Warriors overall: Blacksmithing + Mining - for all three specs while levelling and gearing up.
- The BoP sets: Officer's plate for Arms and Fury and Sentinel's plate for Protection, made from skill 155 to 270.
- At 60: the Officer's Wristguards are still the top pre-raid bracers for Arms and Fury, and the Legionite Glaive is Arms' best two-hander - both BoP.
- The big plate is BoE: the Lionheart Helm and Titanic Leggings are top picks in the Arms and Fury Raid lists, but anyone can buy them.
- Tanks: Protection's best crafted gear at 60 is all BoE, so Engineering + Mining is our endgame pick for tanks.
- Every Warrior: First Aid (it now makes Healing Potions) and Cooking (it builds the campfire).
How we picked the best professions for Warriors
Every Warrior spec on our site has a BiS list with up to four ranked picks per slot - armor, trinkets, weapons, shields and ranged - for level 40, level 50, pre-raid gear at 60 and raid gear at 60. The lists come from the WoW Forever game files (build 1.60.1.70532) and each spec's own stat weights: weapon damage, hit, Strength and crit for Arms and Fury, and Defense, Stamina, dodge and parry for Protection. For this guide we took every crafted item in those lists and noted which profession makes it and how it binds.
A Binds when equipped (BoE) item can be crafted by anyone and sold on the auction house. A Binds when picked up (BoP) item is soulbound to the crafter. Only a profession that makes BoP gear for your spec gives you something gold can't buy.
Blacksmithing dominates every list. Crafting matters little at level 40 - just 3 or 4 crafted entries per spec - but from level 50 it fills most of your gear: 14 to 17 crafted entries, 12 to 16 of them BoP. At 60 there's even more crafted gear, 23 to 25 entries, but only 5 to 8 are BoP. In raid gear, 9 crafted items remain per spec, all BoE.
Blacksmithing: the best profession for Warriors in WoW Forever
WoW Forever Blacksmithing has 506 recipes in the current game files, and a huge share of them is Strength and Defense plate. Kami Labs counted 8 Warrior items among its Blacksmithing picks - second only to Paladins - and our lists agree: across the three pre-raid lists at 60, Blacksmithing makes 64 of the 72 crafted entries.
That's why the best professions for Warriors in WoW Forever start with the anvil. The core of it is two new plate sets, each with a belt, gauntlet, boots, pauldrons, wristguards, gloves, sabatons and waistguard, made from skill 155 to 270. Every piece in our lists is Binds when picked up.
- Officer's plate (Arms and Fury): Strength, Agility and Stamina. The Officer's Gloves have +16 Strength, +9 Agility and +11 Stamina; the Officer's Wristguards +11 Strength, +6 Agility and +8 Stamina.
- Sentinel's plate (Protection): Defense Rating, Stamina and Strength. The Sentinel's Gloves have +11 Defense Rating, +16 Stamina and +9 Strength; the Sentinel's Waistguard +10 Defense Rating, +14 Stamina and +13 Strength.
The two sets use the same bars, grinding stones, sandpaper and acid, and differ in one special ingredient: Jade for Officer's and Purple Lotus for Sentinel's. So a Warrior who tanks and deals damage can make both sets with the same Thorium and Mithril.
At level 50 these sets are the backbone of every Warrior list. For Protection, the Sentinel's pauldrons, wristguards, gloves, waistguard and sabatons are all the top pick in their slot, and 16 of the 17 crafted entries are BoP. For Arms and Fury, the Officer's Wristguards and Officer's Sabatons lead, with the Enchanting trinket Frozen Heart of the Mountain.
Level 60: the big plate, mostly BoE
At 60, Blacksmithing makes 20 to 23 entries in every Warrior pre-raid list. The headline items:
- Lionheart Helm - +18 Strength, +28 Critical Strike Rating and +20 Hit Rating; the top helm for Arms and Fury, pre-raid and raid.
- Titanic Leggings - +30 Strength, +20 Hit Rating and +14 Critical Strike Rating; the top legs for Arms and Fury, also in both lists.
- Enchanted Thorium Helm, Darksoul Shoulders, Enchanted Thorium Breastplate, Heavy Thorium Gauntlets and Azerothium Legplates - top pre-raid picks for Protection.
- Ironwood Blade, Greenhammer and Persuader - the top one-handers, and the Evergreen Shield - the top pre-raid shield for Protection.
All of these are Binds when equipped. The BoP Blacksmithing items left at 60 are the Officer's and Sentinel's set pieces - still the top bracers for Arms and Fury (Officer's Wristguards) - and the Legionite Glaive.
Some of the BoE plate is very expensive to make. The Lionheart Helm takes 80 Thorium Bars, 12 Arcanite Bars, 40 Wicked Claws, 10 Blue Sapphires and 4 Azerothian Diamonds; the Titanic Leggings 12 Arcanite Bars, 20 Enchanted Thorium Bars, 10 Essence of Earth and 2 Flasks of the Titans. A Warrior Blacksmith who can make these will either save a fortune or make one.
Arms Warrior professions
Our Arms Warrior BiS list has 23 crafted entries at 60 - 21 of them Blacksmithing - and crafted gear is the top pick in five slots: the Lionheart Helm, Officer's Wristguards, Titanic Leggings, Legionite Glaive and Ironwood Blade.
Arms swings a two-hander, and the top crafted two-hander is the BoP Legionite Glaive: +16 Agility, +54 Attack Power and +10 Hit Rating. In our weighting it's about 4% ahead of the BoE Arcanite Reaper and the quest reward Ice Barbed Spear. It needs 15 Legionite Bars - an Alchemy transmute with a 47-hour cooldown - so it's more of a long-term goal than a day-one weapon.
Our pick: Blacksmithing + Mining while levelling and at 60. The Officer's Wristguards and Legionite Glaive are BoP, and the Lionheart Helm and Titanic Leggings are still top picks in the Arms Raid list - making your own saves a lot of gold.
Fury Warrior professions
Our Fury Warrior BiS list has 25 crafted entries at 60, the most of the three - 23 of them Blacksmithing - with the same five crafted top picks as Arms. Fury dual-wields, so its best weapon setup is two Blacksmithing one-handers: the Ironwood Blade in the main hand, and the Persuader or Greenhammer in the off-hand. All three are BoE.
Fury weights hit highest of any Warrior spec, and the Lionheart Helm and Titanic Leggings carry +20 Hit Rating each. Kami Labs notes that Fury would need several Blacksmithing specializations - Armorsmith, Weaponsmith and Master Hammersmith - to make all of its crafted gear, and that guides say you learn only one per profession, though the beta hasn't proven it. Since the weapons are BoE, it doesn't matter much: buy the ones you can't make.
Our pick: Blacksmithing + Mining, the same as Arms.
Protection Warrior professions
Our Protection Warrior BiS list has 24 crafted entries at 60 - 20 Blacksmithing plus one each from Leatherworking, Tailoring, Enchanting and Engineering - and crafted gear is the top pick in eight slots, from the Enchanted Thorium Helm to the Evergreen Shield. Every one of those eight is BoE.
That's the key difference for tanks. The Sentinel's set is BoP and excellent from 45 to 55, but by 60 its pieces rank second to fourth, and everything ahead of them can be bought. Meanwhile the Force Reactive Disk - an Engineering shield that releases an electrical charge when it blocks - is the second-best pre-raid shield, and Engineering has three items in the Protection Raid list.
Tanks in WoW Forever want Defense up to crit immunity against a level 63 boss first, then Stamina and armor - and the Sentinel's pieces and Enchanted Thorium plate are full of Defense Rating, which is why Blacksmithing carries a tank so well on the way to 60. Our pick: Blacksmithing + Mining while levelling, then Engineering + Mining at 60. Keep Mining throughout - every Blacksmith and Engineer at 300 needs Heavy Thorium Bars.

Gfinity picks Engineering + Mining (or Blacksmithing) for Warriors at endgame, arguing that "At max level, Engineering is a must; bombs and gadgets fix the class's lack of ranged pulling mechanics," along with "mobility escapes, and instant area-of-effect threat." The game files have the toolkit:
- Shields and guns: the Force Reactive Disk, plus the Core Marksman Rifle and Hyper Deluxe Sniper Rifle Mk XVII - both in the Protection Raid list as ranged picks.
- Explosives: Thorium Grenade (skill 280), Dark Iron Bomb (305) and the Arcane Bomb (320).
- Utility: the Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector, Goblin Rocket Helmet and Parachute Cloak.
We haven't simulated explosives, so we can't put a threat number on them. But for a tank who wants extra area threat on big pulls, or a Warrior who plays a lot of PvP, Engineering + Mining is the strongest level 60 pair.
Alchemy: what a raiding Warrior needs
Even if you never take Alchemy, you'll buy a lot of it. The Warrior shopping list in the current game files includes the Flask of the Titans (skill 315), Elixir of the Mongoose (295), Elixir of Greater Agility (255), Free Action Potion (175), Limited Invulnerability Potion (275) and Restorative Potion (225). A Flask of the Titans alone takes 30 Gromsblood, 10 Stonescale Oil and a Black Lotus, and the Titanic Leggings need two of them.
That's why some raiding Warriors pair Mining with Alchemy instead of Blacksmithing once their plate is done - it saves gold every week. We'd still keep Blacksmithing for Arms and Fury, because the Lionheart Helm and Titanic Leggings stay in your Raid list.
Raiding: what's still worth crafting
Every Warrior Raid list has 9 crafted items, and all of them are BoE. For Arms and Fury, the Lionheart Helm and Titanic Leggings are still the top picks in their slots, alongside the Azerothium Legplates, Blackfury, Nightfall and the Thick Obsidian Breastplate. For Protection, it's the Heavy Thorium Gauntlets, Azerothium Legplates, Depleted Thorium Sabatons, Blackguard, Evergreen Shield and three Engineering items.
Because none of them are BoP, no profession is required in raids - but Blacksmithing is still the cheapest way to get the two best DPS pieces, and Engineering the most useful utility for a tank.
When each Warrior profession pays off
- Levels 30-45: Blacksmithing - a few early pieces like the Truesilver Gauntlets and the Officer's and Sentinel's boots.
- Levels 45-55: Blacksmithing - the Officer's and Sentinel's sets fill most of your gear, all BoP.
- Level 60, pre-raid: Blacksmithing for the Officer's Wristguards and Legionite Glaive, and for making or selling the big BoE plate.
- Raiding: Blacksmithing + Mining for Arms and Fury, Engineering + Mining for Protection.
Mining is the right partner at every stage. The Officer's and Sentinel's sets need Mithril, Steel and Thorium Bars; the level 60 plate needs Thorium, Heavy Thorium and Azerothium Bars, which Miners smelt at skill 250, 300 and 275. You'll level Mining naturally while you quest, and every bar you smelt is one you don't have to buy.
Which gathering profession for a Warrior?
Mining, almost always. It's the only gathering profession that feeds both Blacksmithing and Engineering, so it stays useful whichever way you go at 60. Skinning and Herbalism make gold too, and Herbalism supplies the Purple Lotus for the Sentinel's set - but neither helps your crafting as much. If you plan to switch to Alchemy at 60, you'd need herbs to feed it - but as a Warrior we'd keep Mining and buy the herbs instead.
Legionite and Arcanite: the Alchemy bottleneck
Many of the best Warrior crafts need bars that only Alchemists can make. Legionite Bars (Heavy Thorium Bar + Fel Crystal) and Arcanite Bars (Thorium Bar + Arcane Crystal) are both Alchemy transmutes with a 47-hour cooldown in the game files. The Legionite Glaive needs 15 Legionite Bars, the Azerothium Legplates, Heavy Thorium Gauntlets and Ironwood Blade one each; the Lionheart Helm and Titanic Leggings need 12 Arcanite Bars each.
That means a Warrior Blacksmith depends on Alchemists - a guildmate, the auction house or your own alt. If you plan to make the Legionite Glaive, start collecting Legionite Bars early.
Sharpening stones and weightstones
Weapon damage is the single biggest stat in our Arms and Fury weights, and Blacksmiths make the consumables that add to it. Dense Sharpening Stones and Dense Weightstones come from the trainer at skill 230, and Elemental Sharpening Stones from Plans at 275. They're not soulbound, so anyone can buy them, but a Warrior Blacksmith will burn through them every raid night and save gold making their own from Dense Stone - which Miners collect anyway.
Leatherworking for Warriors?
Kami Labs suggests Blacksmithing + Leatherworking for Arms and Fury. In our lists, Leatherworking makes just one Warrior item per spec - the Shifting Cloak for Protection and the Chromatic Cloak in the Arms and Fury Raid lists - and both are BoE. We'd keep Mining: it feeds Blacksmithing at every level, and a cloak you can buy isn't worth a profession slot.
Can a Warrior skip Blacksmithing?
You can, but it costs a Warrior more than most classes. From 45 to 55, the BoP Officer's and Sentinel's pieces fill most of your slots, and a Warrior without Blacksmithing has to replace them with quest rewards and dungeon drops. At 60, Arms and Fury lose the Officer's Wristguards and the chance at the Legionite Glaive; Protection loses very little.
If you're levelling a second Warrior, have a Blacksmith in your guild, or want Engineering for PvP from day one, skipping it is reasonable. For a first Warrior, we'd take it.
First Aid and Cooking: free picks for every Warrior
- First Aid now makes Healing Potions - from the basic one up to Major Healing Potion at skill 290 - so you don't need Alchemy for those. Its First Aid Kit camp feature gives 3 to 56 Stamina.
- Cooking builds the campfire every camp starts with.
- Fishing feeds Cooking, and its Fish Bowl camp feature gives 8% to all stats.
Making gold as a Warrior
A Warrior Blacksmith has the best-selling plate in the game, because Paladins want much of it too:
- DPS plate: Lionheart Helm and Titanic Leggings - top picks for Arms and Fury even in raids, and for Retribution Paladins.
- Tank plate: Enchanted Thorium Helm, Heavy Thorium Gauntlets and Azerothium Legplates.
- Weapons and consumables: the Ironwood Blade, Greenhammer and Arcanite Reaper, and Dense Sharpening Stones and Weightstones.
