What are the best professions for Druids in WoW Forever? Leatherworking and Skinning - a Druid wears leather in every form, and Leatherworkers make most of it. That much hasn't changed. What's new in WoW Forever is that Leatherworking now has a separate Binds when picked up leather set for each Druid spec, and some of those pieces are still the best you can wear at level 60. Druids also get two surprises from Blacksmithing - a caster mace and a Feral polearm, both BoP. Here's how the best professions for Druids in WoW Forever change from spec to spec, and from level 40 to your first raid.
We went through our Balance, Feral and Restoration Druid BiS lists - at level 40, level 50, in pre-raid gear at 60 and in raid gear - and counted every crafted item: which profession makes it, and whether it's Binds when picked up (only the crafter can wear it) or Binds when equipped (anyone can sell it to you). Here's what that means for Druid professions in WoW Forever.

Best professions for Druids in WoW Forever: the short answer
- Best professions for Druids overall: Leatherworking + Skinning. Leatherworking makes 14 of the 17 crafted items in our Balance pre-raid list at 60, 21 of 27 for Feral and 21 of 26 for Restoration.
- The reason: three new leather sets - Skycaller's for Balance, Prowler's for Feral and Mender's for Restoration - every piece BoP, and several still top picks at 60.
- Restoration benefits most: three Mender's Leather pieces are still the top pick in their slot at 60.
- Once you raid: every crafted item in our three Druid Raid lists is BoE, so Herbalism + Alchemy takes over.
- Blacksmithing extras: the BoP Thorium Greatmace (Balance and Restoration) and Legionite Glaive (Feral) - nice, but not worth a profession slot.
- Every Druid: First Aid (it now makes Healing Potions) and Cooking (it builds the campfire).
How we picked the best professions for Druids
Every Druid spec on our site has a BiS list with up to four ranked picks per slot - armor, weapons, off-hands and trinkets - for level 40, level 50, pre-raid gear at 60 and raid gear at 60. The lists come from the WoW Forever game files (build 1.60.1.70532) and each spec's own stat weights: hit, mana regeneration and spell power for Balance; Strength, Agility, hit and weapon damage for Feral; and mana regeneration and healing for Restoration. We took every crafted item in those lists and noted which profession makes it and how it binds.
Binding is what decides whether a profession is worth it. A Binds when equipped (BoE) item can be crafted by anyone and sold on the auction house. A Binds when picked up (BoP) item is soulbound to the crafter. A profession that makes BoP gear for your spec gives you something no amount of gold can buy.
Leatherworking dominates every Druid list from level 40 to 60. At level 40, almost every crafted entry is BoP - 17 of 18 for Balance, 18 of 20 for Feral and 20 of 21 for Restoration. At 60 a good share is still BoP: 9 for Balance, 10 for Feral and 13 for Restoration. Only in raid gear does crafting fade: 1 crafted item for Balance and 6 each for Feral and Restoration, all BoE.
Leatherworking: the best profession for Druids in WoW Forever
WoW Forever Leatherworking has 592 recipes in the current game files - more than any other profession - and Kami Labs counted 11 Druid items among its Leatherworking picks, third behind Shamans and Hunters. In our lists, Leatherworking makes 56 of the 70 crafted entries across the three pre-raid lists at 60.
The biggest reason is new: three leather sets, one per spec, made between skill 155 and 270. Each has a belt, gloves, shoes, shoulders, bracers, boots, gauntlets and waistguard, and every piece in our lists is Binds when picked up.
- Skycaller's Leather (Balance): Intellect, spell power, Spirit and Stamina. Skycaller's Leather Bracers have +7 Intellect, up to 10 spell power, +5 Spirit and +6 Stamina.
- Prowler's Leather (Feral): Strength, Agility, Intellect and Stamina. Prowler's Leather Boots have +13 Strength, +11 Agility and +9 Stamina.
- Mender's Leather (Restoration): Intellect, healing, Spirit and Stamina. Mender's Leather Gauntlets have +9 Intellect, up to 31 healing, +9 Spirit and +6 Stamina.
The three sets share their base materials - Heavy, Thick and Rugged Leather, Cured Hides, Pristine Hide and thread - and differ in one special ingredient: Elemental Water for Skycaller's, Jade for Prowler's and Iridescent Pearl for Mender's. A Druid who plays two specs can make both sets from the same leather.
They also last. At 60, the Skycaller's Leather Bracers are still the top bracers for Balance, the Prowler's Leather Boots the top boots for Feral, and the Mender's Leather Bracers, Gauntlets and Boots the top picks in three slots for Restoration - level 45 to 50 items holding their own against level 60 gear.
Balance Druid professions
Our Balance Druid BiS list has 17 crafted entries at 60 - 14 Leatherworking, 2 Enchanting and 1 Blacksmithing - and crafted gear is the top pick in eight slots:
- Leatherworking: the Ironfeather Shoulders (+20 Intellect), Ironfeather Breastplate (+28 Spirit, +12 Intellect), Ironfeather Leggings (up to 38 spell power and +14 crit), Girdle of Insight (+23 Intellect), Bileblister Boots and the BoP Skycaller's Leather Bracers.
- Enchanting: the BoP Truesilver Conduit off-hand.
- Blacksmithing: the BoP Thorium Greatmace, with up to 23 spell power and +21 Strength.
The Ironfeather pieces are the Balance highlight - and they need a lot of Ironfeather: 80 for the shoulders and 120 each for the breastplate and leggings. The Ironfeather Leggings are also the only crafted item in the Balance Raid list, where they're still the top pick.
Our pick: Leatherworking + Skinning to 60, then Herbalism + Alchemy once you raid. Balance weights mana regeneration as highly as hit, and Alchemy's Mana Well and mana potions help with that. Starfire is an expensive nuke, and Innervate has a 6-minute cooldown in Forever, so long fights are where a Moonkin runs dry - and where your own mana potions pay off.
Feral Druid professions
Our Feral Druid BiS list has the most crafted entries of the three - 27 at 60, including 21 Leatherworking and 5 Blacksmithing weapons - and crafted gear is the top pick in ten slots. Most of the Feral armour is BoE: the Warbear Helm, Golden Mantle of the Dawn, Timbermaw Tunic, Timbermaw Brawlers, Might of the Timbermaw and Warbear Woolies, all Strength and Agility leather. The BoP top picks are the Prowler's Leather Boots, the Frozen Heart of the Mountain trinket (Enchanting) and the Legionite Glaive (Blacksmithing).
Weapons matter more for Feral in WoW Forever than in the original game: Cat and Bear attacks scale with your weapon's damage, and Druids can learn polearms at level 20. The Legionite Glaive - +16 Agility, +54 Attack Power, +10 Hit Rating - is the top Feral two-hander. But it's only a few percent ahead of the next pick in our weighting, the quest reward Ice Barbed Spear, and it needs 15 Legionite Bars. We wouldn't take Blacksmithing for it.
Weapon damage counting also means sharpening stones and weightstones work in Cat and Bear Form. Blacksmiths make Dense Sharpening Stones and Dense Weightstones at skill 230 from the trainer, but anyone can sell them to you - buy them.
Our pick: Leatherworking + Skinning to 60. Feral uses more crafted gear than any other Druid spec, so it's also the spec where keeping Leatherworking at 60 makes the most sense if you want to make and sell your own gear. For raiding, Herbalism + Alchemy for Agility and Strength elixirs.
Restoration Druid professions
Restoration is the Druid spec that gets the most from Leatherworking. Our Restoration Druid BiS list has 26 crafted entries at 60, 13 of them BoP, and crafted gear is the top pick in ten slots:
- BoP Mender's Leather: Mender's Leather Bracers, Mender's Leather Gauntlets and Mender's Leather Boots.
- BoE Leatherworking: the Living Crown (up to 73 healing, +18 Intellect, +14 Spirit), Living Shoulders, Hide of the Wild, Ironfeather Breastplate, and the new Elderwild Waistcord and Elderwild Pants.
- Blacksmithing: the BoP Thorium Greatmace, the top two-hander (Restoration does slightly better with a one-hander and off-hand, like the Enchanting Twisting Essence Jar).
Three BoP top picks at 60 is more than any other Druid spec. If you heal, Leatherworking is worth keeping until your pre-raid gear is done. The Elderwild pieces need Malleable Essence of Nature, from disenchanting items from Hyjal Summit or Barrow Deeps, plus Fel Hide and Fel Leather.
Kami Labs picks Tailoring + Leatherworking for Restoration. Our lists have no Tailoring items for Restoration at 60, so we'd keep Skinning instead. Our pick: Leatherworking + Skinning, then Herbalism + Alchemy once you raid.
See every crafted item in your Druid BiS listOur Balance, Feral and Restoration BiS lists show where each item comes from - crafted, quest or dungeon - with links to every recipe.Open Druid BiSRaiding: every crafted Druid item can be bought
In our Raid lists, crafted items thin out: 1 for Balance (the Ironfeather Leggings), 6 for Feral - including the Timbermaw Tunic and Blackfury as top picks - and 6 for Restoration, from the Living Crown to the Corehound Belt. Every one is BoE.
So in raids, no profession gives a Druid gear they can't buy, and consumables matter more. That's where Herbalism + Alchemy comes in - and Gfinity gives Druids one more reason: they "can pick herbs in Travel Form without breaking shapeshift," which makes gathering faster.
Blacksmithing for Druids: two BoP items, not worth the slot
Blacksmithing turns up in every Druid list, mostly as BoE weapons. Two of its items are BoP:
- Thorium Greatmace (skill 270) - the top two-hander for Balance and Restoration at levels 50 and 60, with up to 23 spell power and +21 Strength. It's Balance's best weapon setup in our lists. It takes 30 Thorium Bars, 10 Azerothium Bars, 4 Heavy Thorium Bars, 4 Essence of Earth and 2 Dense Grinding Stones.
- Legionite Glaive (skill 320) - the top Feral two-hander, as above.
Both are good, but neither is far enough ahead of the next option to justify giving up Skinning or Leatherworking. If you have a Blacksmith alt, though, the Thorium Greatmace is a great levelling weapon for a caster Druid.
Enchanting for Druids
Enchanting makes a few BoP Druid items - the Truesilver Conduit (Balance), the Twisting Essence Jar and Dreamstaff (Restoration) and the Frozen Heart of the Mountain (Feral) - plus the enchants each spec wants. Kami Labs lists the Agility necklace enchant for Feral, Spell Power for Balance and Healing Power for Restoration. But any Enchanter can put those on for you, and the BoP items are all pre-raid. It's a fine second profession if you already have Leatherworking covered by a friend, but not ahead of Skinning.
Which gathering profession for a Druid?
Leatherworking is the crafting half; the gathering half is where Druids have a real choice:
- Skinning feeds Leatherworking directly - the sets need Heavy, Thick and Rugged Leather, Cured Hides and Pristine Hide, and most level 60 patterns need 12 to 40 Rugged Leather each. It's the pick while you level.
- Herbalism feeds Alchemy, and Gfinity points out that Druids can gather herbs in Travel Form without breaking shapeshift. It's the pick at 60, when you switch to Herbalism + Alchemy. Its Incense Candle camp feature gives Intellect - good for Balance and Restoration.
- Mining doesn't help a Druid's professions at all, unless you want to make your own Thorium Greatmace or Legionite Glaive.
Our advice: Skinning with Leatherworking while you level, then replace both with Herbalism and Alchemy once your pre-raid gear is done - Restoration last, because its Mender's pieces stay useful the longest.
Druids and Shamans: the same idea, different armour
If the three-set idea sounds familiar, it's because Shamans get it too. WoW Forever gives Leatherworkers Skycaller's and Mender's sets in both leather (for Druids) and mail (for Shamans), plus a melee set for each class - Prowler's Leather for Feral and Skirmisher's Mail for Enhancement. The special materials match: Elemental Water for Skycaller's and Iridescent Pearl for Mender's in both armour types. One Leatherworker can supply both classes from the same patterns' families. See our Shaman professions guide for the mail side.
When each Druid profession pays off
- Levels 20-40: Leatherworking - almost every crafted entry in our level 40 lists, nearly all BoP.
- Levels 40-55: Leatherworking - the Skycaller's, Prowler's and Mender's sets.
- Level 60, pre-raid: still Leatherworking, especially for Restoration with three BoP Mender's top picks.
- Raiding: Herbalism + Alchemy for flasks, elixirs and potions.
Most Druids will get the most out of Leatherworking + Skinning from level 1: the two level together while you quest, the sets cover most of your gear from the low 30s to 60, and Skinning makes gold the whole way. Switch at 60 only once your pre-raid gear is done.
Can a Druid skip Leatherworking?
You can, but it costs more for a Druid than for most classes. The Skycaller's, Prowler's and Mender's pieces are BoP, so a Druid without Leatherworking can't wear them - and for Restoration that means giving up three of the best pre-raid pieces at 60. Balance and Feral lose less: one BoP top pick each from the sets.
If you're levelling a second Druid, playing with a guild that will gear you quickly, or simply want Herbalism + Alchemy from the start for gold, skipping Leatherworking is reasonable - quest rewards and dungeon drops will cover most slots. For a first Druid, especially a healer, we'd take it.
Camp features for Druids
Every profession builds a camp feature in WoW Forever, and anyone sitting nearby gets the buff for an hour. Druids get the most from:
- Alchemy - Mana Well: 10 to 29 mana every 5 seconds, for Balance and Restoration.
- Herbalism - Incense Candle: 2 to 25 Intellect.
- Mining - Lodestone: up to 90 melee Attack Power, and Blacksmithing - Sharpening Wheel: 6 to 34 Strength - both for Feral.
- Leatherworking - Camp Tent: tops up Rested XP to 5% of a level - the best levelling camp feature.
One catch for Balance: the Camp Chair's crit buff doesn't stack with your own Moonkin Aura, so a Moonkin in the group makes it redundant. And the Enchanted Lute's Armor buff doesn't stack with Mark of the Wild.
First Aid and Cooking: free picks for every Druid
- First Aid now makes Healing Potions - from the basic one up to Major Healing Potion at skill 290 - so you don't need Alchemy for those. Its First Aid Kit camp feature gives 3 to 56 Stamina.
- Cooking builds the campfire every camp starts with. Our Feral guide also lists Cooking foods like Cooked Glossy Mightfish and Mightfish Steak among its consumables.
- Fishing feeds Cooking, and its Fish Bowl camp feature gives 8% to all stats.
Making gold as a Druid
Druid Leatherworkers have plenty to sell, because most of the best level 60 leather is BoE and wanted by several classes:
- Caster leather: Ironfeather Leggings, Girdle of Insight and Living Crown.
- Feral and Rogue leather: Timbermaw Tunic, Warbear Helm and Might of the Timbermaw.
- Leather itself: Rugged Leather is in almost every level 60 Leatherworking pattern.
