This WoW Forever Warrior leveling guide takes you from level 1 to 60 the fast way: as Arms, with a two-handed weapon, Rend and Overpower on every mob and Mortal Strike from level 40. It covers the full Warrior leveling talent build - every one of the 51 points, level by level - the reasons behind each choice, your Rage rotation, the abilities to train, the consumables worth carrying, where to quest, and the tips that keep a Warrior alive while leveling in World of Warcraft: Forever.
Warriors changed a lot from the original game. Every Warrior now has Victory Rush, a heal after each kill, from level 20. Weaponmaster replaces the old Axe, Mace, Sword and Polearm Specialization talents with one talent that works with any weapon, and new Arms talents such as Bloodthrill and Spearing Strike change how the spec plays. Anger Management now gives you Rage in combat. This guide uses the latest talent trees, from WoW Forever beta client build 1.60.1.70630.

Warrior strengths and weaknesses while leveling
Before the build, it helps to know what you're working with. A Warrior gets stronger with better gear than any other class, but it can't heal itself with spells - and that shapes everything about Warrior leveling.
Strengths
- Plate and health. You can take a lot of hits, and you never run out of mana because you don't use any.
- Victory Rush. "Instantly attack the target causing 15% of Attack Power damage and healing you for 10% of your maximum health. Only useable within 20 sec after you kill a non-trivial enemy." A free heal after every kill makes chain pulling much safer than in the original game.
- Charge. "Charge an enemy, generate 9 Rage, and Stun it for 1 sec. Cannot be used in combat." Free Rage and a stun to start every fight.
- Gear scaling. Every weapon upgrade is a big damage upgrade, and a good two-hander makes Mortal Strike hit very hard.
- Group demand. Every dungeon group needs a tank, and a Warrior can switch to Defensive Stance and a shield at any time.
Weaknesses
- No self-healing spells. Between pulls you eat food and use bandages, so downtime depends on how much damage you take.
- Rage starts at zero. You need Charge or Bloodrage to start a fight with Rage, and Rage drains away out of combat.
- Gear-dependent. A Warrior with an old weapon levels slowly - upgrade it as often as you can.
- Weak against casters. Ranged mobs make you come to them; use Charge, and later Intercept and Pummel.

Here's the full Warrior leveling talent build with every point spent. It's built for solo questing - killing fast, staying alive and keeping downtime low - and it doubles as a solid Arms Warrior starting point at 60.

WoW Forever gives you your first talent point at level 10 and one more every level after that - 51 points by 60. Each row of a tree needs 5 more points in that tree before it opens, so the bottom row of the Arms tree, Mortal Strike, needs 30 points in that tree. Talents that teach a new ability put it straight into your spellbook.
Levels 10 to 20: Improved Rend, Improved Heroic Strike and Deep Wounds
Points: 11, all Arms - level 20 build.
- 10-12: Improved Rend 3/3. "Increases the Bleed damage done by your Rend ability by 35%." Rend is on every mob you fight, and Improved Rend unlocks Deep Wounds.
- 13-15: Improved Heroic Strike 3/3. "Reduces the cost of your Heroic Strike ability by 3 Rage." Heroic Strike is where your spare Rage goes, so a cheaper one means more damage.
- 16-17: Improved Charge 2/2. "Increases the Rage generated by your Charge ability by 6." Start every fight with more Rage.
- 18-19: Improved Overpower 2/2. "Increases the critical strike chance of your Overpower ability by 50%." Overpower can't be dodged, and now it crits at least half the time.
- 20: Deep Wounds 1/3. "Your critical strikes cause your opponent to Bleed, dealing 20% of your melee weapon's average damage over 12 sec."
Overpower arrives at level 12, Tactical Mastery at 14, and at 20 Victory Rush, Cleave, Slam and Retaliation.
Why not Deflection first? Parry is good, but Rend, Heroic Strike and Charge are used on every single mob, so their talents pay off more. You pick up Deflection at 23.
Levels 21 to 30: Deep Wounds, Impale and Sweeping Strikes
Points: 10, all Arms - level 30 build.
- 21-22: Deep Wounds 3/3. "Your critical strikes cause your opponent to Bleed, dealing 60% of your melee weapon's average damage over 12 sec."
- 23-24: Deflection 2/5. "Increases your Parry chance by 2%."
- 25-26: Impale 2/2. "Increases the critical strike damage bonus of your abilities by 20%." Bigger crits on Overpower, Heroic Strike and every other ability.
- 27-29: Two-Handed Weapon Specialization 3/3. "Increases the damage you deal with two-handed melee weapons by 3%."
- 30: Sweeping Strikes. "Your next 5 melee attacks strike an additional nearby opponent." Two mobs at once become much less dangerous.
Execute arrives at 24, Intimidating Shout at 22, and at 30 Berserker Stance, Berserker Rage and Intercept.
Why not Spearing Strike? It's a new Arms talent that hits Giants, Dragonkin and mounted targets hard, but it's weak against most quest mobs. Impale and Two-Handed Weapon Specialization add damage to everything.
Levels 31 to 40: Weaponmaster, Bloodthrill and Mortal Strike
Points: 10, all Arms - level 40 build.
- 31-35: Weaponmaster 5/5. "Gives your melee weapon attacks a benefit depending on the weapon. Axe/Polearm: Increases your critical strike chance by 5%. Mace/Staff: Your attacks ignore 15% of your target's armor. Sword: Your successful melee attacks have a 5% chance to trigger an extra attack on the target." It works with any weapon type: axes and polearms give crit, maces and staves ignore armor, and swords give extra attacks.
- 36-37: Improved Slam 2/2. "Reduces the global cooldown and cast time of your Slam ability by 0.50 sec. In addition, Slam no longer interrupts or delays your melee swing and Slam's cooldown is reduced by 3.0 sec." Slam no longer resets your swing, so it's pure extra damage.
- 38-39: Bloodthrill 2/5. "Grants your Main Hand melee attacks against enemies afflicted by your Rend a 8% chance to allow an activation of Overpower." Rend is on every mob, so this means many more Overpowers.
- 40: Mortal Strike. "A vicious strike that deals weapon damage plus 85 and wounds the target, reducing the effectiveness of any healing by 50% for 10 sec." Your biggest attack - use it on cooldown.
Mortal Strike needs Sweeping Strikes and 30 points in Arms, so 40 is the earliest you can take it. Whirlwind arrives at 36 and Pummel at 38.
Levels 41 to 50: Bloodthrill, Improved Tactical Mastery and Anger Management
Points: 10 - 9 Arms, 1 Fury - level 50 build.
- 41-43: Bloodthrill 5/5. "Grants your Main Hand melee attacks against enemies afflicted by your Rend a 20% chance to allow an activation of Overpower." With Improved Overpower, every proc is likely to crit.
- 44-48: Improved Tactical Mastery 5/5. "Tactical Mastery lets you retain up to an additional 15 Rage when you change stances." Swap stances without losing your Rage - and it unlocks Anger Management.
- 49: Anger Management. "Generates 1 Rage every 3 sec while in combat, and reduces Rage loss while out of combat by 30%." Free Rage in every fight.
- 50: Cruelty 1/5 (Fury). "Improves your chance to get a critical strike with melee attacks by 1%."
Why Improved Tactical Mastery so late? It's five points that mostly help when you swap stances, and Anger Management needs all five. For leveling, Bloodthrill's extra Overpowers come first. Recklessness arrives at 50.
Levels 51 to 60: Cruelty and Unbridled Wrath
Points: 10 - 9 Fury, 1 Arms - level 60 build.
- 51-54: Cruelty 5/5. "Improves your chance to get a critical strike with melee attacks by 5%."
- 55-59: Unbridled Wrath 5/5. "Gives you a 60% chance to generate 1 additional Rage when you deal melee damage with a weapon." More Rage from every swing, for more Mortal Strikes and Heroic Strikes.
- 60: Deflection 3/5 (Arms). "Increases your Parry chance by 3%."
At 60 you have 41/10/0: a full Arms build with Mortal Strike, Weaponmaster and Bloodthrill, plus crit and Rage from Fury. Try it on our rotation simulator.
Warrior leveling rotation
A Warrior's rotation is all about Rage: start the fight with some, never let it sit at the cap, and spend it on your best attack:
- Levels 1-11: Charge (4), Rend (4), then Heroic Strike with spare Rage. Thunder Clap (6) on two or more mobs.
- Levels 12-39: Charge, Rend, Overpower whenever it's ready, Heroic Strike with spare Rage. Victory Rush after kills from 20, Execute below 20% from 24.
- Levels 40-60: Charge, Rend, Mortal Strike on cooldown, Overpower on every proc, Slam and Heroic Strike with spare Rage, Execute to finish. Sweeping Strikes on two mobs.
- When things go wrong: Intimidating Shout, Hamstring (8) and run, Retaliation, or a Healing Potion.
Keep Battle Shout up, and use Demoralizing Shout when several mobs are hitting you. Between pulls, eat to full - and use a bandage when you're in a hurry.
Warrior stances for leveling
Warriors fight in stances, and each one unlocks different abilities. While leveling you'll spend most of your time in Battle Stance, but knowing when to switch saves lives and time:
- Battle Stance (level 1): "A balanced combat stance." Charge, Overpower, Sweeping Strikes, Spearing Strike and Retaliation all need it, so it's your leveling stance.
- Defensive Stance (10): "A defensive combat stance. Decreases damage taken by 10% and damage caused by 10%. Increases all threat generated by 30%." Swap to it when you're about to die or when you tank a dungeon. Revenge and Shield Block need it.
- Berserker Stance (30): "An aggressive stance. Critical strike chance increased by 3% and all damage taken is increased by 10%." Intercept, Whirlwind, Pummel, Berserker Rage and Recklessness need it.
Intercept is the reason to visit Berserker Stance while leveling: "Charge an enemy, causing 25 damage and stunning it for 3 sec." Use it on a mob that's running away or a caster you can't reach, then swap back to Battle Stance for Overpower. Tactical Mastery (level 14) keeps up to 10 Rage when you swap, and Improved Tactical Mastery adds up to 15 more. Bloodrage is your other way to get Rage out of combat: "Generates 10 rage at the cost of health, and then generates an additional 10 rage over 10 sec." Use it just before Charge on a hard mob so you can Rend and Overpower straight away.

Gear: what stats a leveling Warrior wants
- Weapon damage: a slow two-handed weapon with high damage - Mortal Strike, Overpower and Slam all scale with it.
- Strength: Attack Power, and more Rage from harder hits.
- Critical strike: Deep Wounds, Impale and Cruelty all reward crits.
- Stamina: you heal with food and bandages, so more health means fewer stops.
- Agility: more crit chance, which feeds Deep Wounds and Impale.

Warrior leveling tips and tricks
- Always Charge. It's free Rage and a short stun - start every fight with it.
- Victory Rush every kill. It's a free heal on a 30-second cooldown.
- Rend everything. Rend makes Bloodthrill work, and Improved Rend makes it hit hard.
- Overpower every time it lights up. With Improved Overpower it crits at least half the time.
- Don't waste Rage. If you're close to full, Heroic Strike or Cleave.
- Pull one at a time before 30. Without Sweeping Strikes, two mobs is a lot of damage to take.
- Group up for dungeons. Tanks are always in demand - keep a shield and a one-handed weapon in your bags.
Should you level as Fury or Protection instead?
You can. Fury has Bloodthirst, Death Wish and Flurry and hits very hard with two weapons, but takes more damage and needs more food. Protection has Shield Slam, Concussion Blow and Focused Rage and is the toughest spec, but kills slowly alone. Arms has the best mix of damage, Rage and staying power for solo questing. See our Fury and Protection class guides for those specs at 60.
