Press Ctrl+C to copy, then paste it into the box on the Forever Upgrades website (Find Upgrades or Sim DPS).

Install and use it

Three steps, about a minute the first time. After that it's /fup, Ctrl+C, paste.

  1. Install

    Download the zip and unzip it into the Interface\AddOns folder inside your WoW Forever game folder, so you have Interface\AddOns\ForeverUpgradesExport\ForeverUpgradesExport.toc.

    Restart the game (or /reload). On the character select screen, under AddOns, make sure Forever Upgrades Export is ticked.

  2. Export in game

    Type /fup in chat, or click the Forever Upgrades button on your character sheet (C).

    A window opens with your character as one line of text, already selected. Press Ctrl+C to copy it.

  3. Paste on Forever Upgrades

    Paste it into the box on Find Upgrades, Sim DPS or the home page - the same box that takes an armory link - and press the button.

    Changed gear or talents? Type /fup again: it always reads what you have on now.

What it copies

Everything the simulator needs, read from your character in game.

GearEvery equipped item (item id, name, quality, item level) - and each item's stats, for items the website's database doesn't have yet.
EnchantsThe enchant on every item (enchant id), simulated with its stats.
Talents and specEvery talent's rank in all three trees; your spec is the tree with the most points. Used instead of the default build.
CharacterName, realm, level, class, race, faction and your character sheet (Strength, Agility, Stamina, Intellect, Spirit, health, mana, spell power, attack power).

Nothing is sent anywhere: the addon only shows the text, and it leaves the game only when you copy and paste it yourself. Your last export is also kept in WTF\Account\…\SavedVariables\ForeverUpgradesExport.lua.

Questions

The addon list says "Out of date"

Tick Load out of date AddOns at the top of the AddOns list on the character select screen. The addon uses only basic, long-standing game functions, so it works even when its version number is behind the game's. You can check the game's number in chat with /dump select(4, GetBuildInfo()).

Some items show as "Item 12345" or the window says names weren't loaded

The game loads item details lazily. Wait a second and click Refresh in the addon's window, or open your bags once, then export again.

Nothing happens when I press Ctrl+C

Click once inside the text box first (it selects everything), then Ctrl+C. On a Mac it's Cmd+C.

Do I still need the armory?

No. The export has everything the sims use, so it works when the armory is down, out of date or doesn't show your character. Armory links still work too.

Does it use my talents?

Yes - Find Upgrades and Sim DPS use the talents in the export instead of the default build. A talent build link in Options still wins if you add one.
