Can you play World of Warcraft Forever on PS5 or Xbox? Not at launch. World of Warcraft Forever comes out on November 4, 2026, for PC and Mac only. Blizzard hasn't announced a console version - but a rating listing in Brazil and new controller support have players asking. Here's what's confirmed, what's rumour, and what Blizzard has said.

The short version

  • World of Warcraft Forever PS5: not announced.
  • World of Warcraft Forever Xbox: not announced.
  • Nintendo Switch: not announced.
  • PC and Mac: yes, from November 4.
  • Controller support: native gamepad support for PC is being tested.

Is World of Warcraft Forever on console?

No. Vice reported after BlizzCon that the game "will be exclusive to PC at launch" and that there are no official plans for other platforms. The beta's system requirements list Windows 10 (64-bit) and macOS 12, PC Games Hardware reports - so "PC" here means Windows and Mac.

What Blizzard said about consoles

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas kept the door open without promising anything. Asked about consoles, he told Windows Central, as quoted by Geeks + Gamers:

Our focus remains PC.— Ion Hazzikostas, to Windows Central

He added: “Many possibilities exist in the future, and we'll see where that leads us.” That's a "not now", not a "never".

The Brazil rating listing

The console rumours started with an age-rating listing from Brazil's Ministry of Justice. According to Geeks + Gamers, it first listed World of Warcraft Forever for PC and Mac plus PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch - and was then reportedly changed to PC only. Blizzard didn't comment on the listing. Rating listings like this can contain mistakes: the same report notes Blizzard called an Xbox classification for Shadowlands in 2020 an error.

World of Warcraft Forever controller support

The one console-like feature that is real: Blizzard showed native gamepad support at BlizzCon, playable in an early build of the Skyborne starting zone, Vice reports, and Geeks + Gamers says it's being tested with Xbox and PlayStation controllers. That means you should be able to play Forever on PC with a controller - but it doesn't mean a console version is coming.

Tip: on a console-only setup, the way to play at launch is a PC or Mac. If you're buying hardware for Forever, check the WoW Forever system requirements first - it needs more than old Classic did.
Our take: controller support plus a rating slip make a console port look plausible some day, but nothing points to it soon. Blizzard is putting its effort into the PC launch, the December raids and Molten Core. Plan to play on PC or Mac.
