Classic had 20-odd dungeons, and every veteran knows them by heart. WoW: Forever adds nine new five-player dungeons, from level 13 to 60, spread through the levelling journey so there's something new in almost every bracket. Some are places players have stared at for twenty years - the sealed gate in Azshara, the ruins above the Undercity, the dome over Dalaran.
Here is every one of them, in level order, as reported by PC Games on October 21.

All nine at a glance
- Halls of the Thane - levels 13-18, beneath Ironforge
- Ruins of Lordaeron - levels 15-20, above the Undercity
- Excavation Site - levels 24-29, Swamp of Sorrows
- Dalaran - levels 28-33, the city of Dalaran
- Sunken City - levels 35-40, off the coast of Thousand Needles
- Fortress Krol'dok - levels 40-45, the new Riverlands
- Alcaz Prison - levels 48-53, Alcaz Island
- Blackfang Citadel - levels 55-60, Azshara
- Terrace of the Shaper - levels 58-60, Un'Goro Crater
Halls of the Thane (13-18)
Deep under Ironforge lies the final resting place of the dwarven kings - and the Dark Iron dwarves have moved in. It's the earliest of the new dungeons, a first group run for Alliance players around the same level as the Deadmines.
Ruins of Lordaeron (15-20)
Right above the Undercity, the Forsaken are trying to take back their old capital, but a necromancer has taken hold of the ruins. PC Games ties it to the Forsaken story from Warcraft III - and it gives Horde players a low-level dungeon on their doorstep.
Excavation Site (24-29)
A dig site in the Swamp of Sorrows wrapped in a strange fog, with Titan constructs and wild beasts. It joins Shadowfang Keep and Blackfathom Deeps as a group option in the mid-20s.
Dalaran (28-33)
The old city of the mages becomes a dungeon. Its protective dome has collapsed and wild magic runs through the streets. You get in through the sewers and can choose between routes and encounters, and each faction has its own quest line leading there. It also hides a secret boss - our guide shows how to summon Lyn the Ignored.
Sunken City (35-40)
Ancient troll ruins rise from the sea off Thousand Needles, held by trolls and Naga, with a pirate adventure along the way.
Fortress Krol'dok (40-45)
An ogre stronghold in the new Riverlands zone. You storm the fortress to stop the ogres' raids.
Alcaz Prison (48-53)
On Alcaz Island, a place tied to the long-running mystery around King Varian Wrynn. Inside, the Defias and the Naga fight each other, and you learn more about one of the game's oldest mysteries. PC Games places the island in Duskwood; in the original game, Alcaz Island lies off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh, so we'll confirm the entrance when the game launches.
Blackfang Citadel (55-60)
Behind the gate in Azshara that stayed locked all through Classic lies a furbolg city. The Blackfang clan is fighting a corruption spreading through its groves and mountain tunnels. PC Games describes it as a mega-dungeon with several paths and bosses - and its lowest path leads even deeper beneath Azeroth.
Terrace of the Shaper (58-60)
An ancient Titan facility in Un'Goro Crater, with dinosaurs, tar pits and strange crystals. Power crystals you gather out in Un'Goro can be used inside the dungeon - a nice link to the zone's crystal-collecting quests.
Why it matters
Nine new dungeons on top of the classic ones means more choice at almost every stage of levelling: a new run opens up roughly every five to eight levels from 13 to 60, and both factions get an early dungeon close to home - Halls of the Thane under Ironforge, Ruins of Lordaeron above the Undercity.
