Camping in WoW: Forever: campfires, one-hour buffs, and what every profession can build

Every Classic player knows the scene: a handful of strangers around a cooking fire, waiting for mana to come back before the next pull. WoW: Forever turns that fire into a whole system. Camping lets every profession build something for a campsite - a tent, a banner, a sharpening wheel, a mana well - and everyone who sits down nearby gets an hour-long buff.

Blizzard laid out how it works in a new guide, Gather Around the Campfire, posted on October 21. We've added what the game files show on top of that: every one of the 41 camping recipes, from the first campfire to the dungeon-drop workshops at skill 300.

The short version

  • It starts with Cooking. A Basic Campfire, learned with the profession, holds up to three camp features.
  • Every profession builds one. The first camp features unlock at skill 20, from profession trainers.
  • Sit for a minute, buffed for an hour. The buffs reach everyone sitting nearby, not just whoever built the feature.
  • One feature per player, and all camp features share a one-hour cooldown.
  • Bigger fires, better features. Journeyman and Expert Campfires hold 5 and 10 features, and the skill 140 and 300 versions come from Blueprints that drop in dungeons and raids.

How a camp works

Everything starts with the cook. The Basic Campfire "allows cooking and the placement of up to 3 additional camp features" - and Blizzard is clear that "all Camping features require a campfire to be nearby." Each player can add one feature, so a full Basic camp is a cook plus three friends with different professions.

Then you rest. Blizzard's rule is simple:

Players sitting or crafting at a campsite for at least 1 minute will gain the benefits from other camp features.— Blizzard, Gather Around the Campfire, October 21

The buffs last an hour, and camp features "share a cooldown of 1 hour", so a camp is something you set up between pulls or before a dungeon, not something you drop every five minutes.

What each profession brings

These are the first camp features, from profession trainers at skill 20. Blizzard lists the buffs as ranges that grow with your level - a level 60 gets the top number:

  • First Aid - First Aid Kit: 3 to 56 Stamina.
  • Tailoring - Faction Banner: 14 to 32 Spirit, for players of your faction only.
  • Herbalism - Incense Candle: 2 to 25 Intellect.
  • Blacksmithing - Sharpening Wheel: 6 to 34 Strength.
  • Enchanting - Enchanted Lute: 28 to 260 Armor.
  • Alchemy - Mana Well: 10 to 29 mana every 5 seconds.
  • Skinning - Camp Chair: 2% critical strike chance.
  • Fishing - Fish Bowl: 8% to all stats.
  • Leatherworking - Camp Tent: fills your Rested XP up to 5% of a level.
  • Engineering - Reagent Bot: a vendor for reagents, right at camp.
  • Mining - Lodestone: up to 90 melee Attack Power. Blizzard's guide doesn't list Mining, but the Lodestone is in the game files with the other skill 20 features.

Two catches. First, the buffs don't stack with the class buff they copy: the Enchanted Lute, for example, is "exclusive with" Mark of the Wild, and according to Warcraft Tavern the First Aid Kit doesn't stack with Power Word: Fortitude. A camp fills the gaps when your group is missing a class, but it won't double up. Second, on a PvP ruleset, Blizzard warns, "that risk increases when enemy players come upon your camp." A group sitting around a fire is an easy target.

Tip: the Camp Tent is the levelling pick. It tops your Rested XP up to 5% of a level - and, per Blizzard, has "no effect if Rested experience already exceeds that value", so put it down when your rested bar is empty, not when it's full.

From skill 20 to 300: Blueprints

The first features are only the start. "Items that require skill level 140 or higher are found through drops in dungeons and raids," Blizzard says - recipes called Blueprints. The game files show two more steps for every profession, and most of them keep the earlier feature's buff and add something new:

  • Crafting stations: the Anvil and Master Forge for Blacksmiths, the Loom for Tailors, the Alchemy Laboratory, the Arcane Forge, the Sewing Machine and the Anarchist's Workbench - so crafters can work out in the world.
  • Gathering at camp: the Rock Garden spawns a mining node over time, the Greenhouse grows herbs from seeds, and the Seed Hybridizer turns seeds into rarer ones.
  • Better fishing: the Fishing Rack lets you catch uncommon fish for an hour, the Fishing Hut rare ones.
  • Services: the Repair Bot repairs your gear, the Field Guide teaches Track Beasts, and the Toxin Study and Plague Doctor's Laboratory hold healing potions.
  • For cooks: the Journeyman Campfire at skill 90 (5 features) and the Expert Campfire at 200 (10 features), plus Cookie's Feast and the Iron Oven for the best recipes.

Why it matters

Camping changes how professions feel. In the original game, Tailoring or Herbalism did nothing for the group you were standing with; in Forever, every profession brings something to the fire. It also gives groups a reason to stop together, which suits a game where everyone in a region shares one big world.

Our take: this is one of the best new ideas in Forever. It's simple - build it, sit down, get a buff - but it rewards groups that mix professions, gives gatherers something to show off, and makes the downtime between pulls feel like part of the game. The one thing to watch is balance: an Enchanted Lute or a Fish Bowl at 60 is a real number, and if camps end up mandatory before every dungeon pull, the one-hour cooldown will matter a lot. For now, pick up a Camp Tent recipe early - free Rested XP is the easiest win while you level.
