How the spec rankings are simulated

The same rules for every spec, so the ranking compares the specs - not their luck or their gear.

The gear

At level 60 every spec wears its own best-in-slot list: the best item of every slot from the Dungeon List (rare items) or the Raid List (epic items), both rings and both trinkets, and the weapon style the list marks best. Items are simulated exactly like a real character's - stats, trinket procs and set bonuses - without enchants, so no spec gets an advantage from a particular enchant.

At levels 50 and 30 every spec of a role gets the same standard gear - stat totals rather than items - with a standard weapon for its level, because the lists there change so quickly while you level.

The fight

Each spec plays its default talent build and the rotation from its guide in 1,000 fights of 60 seconds against a boss three levels higher. Raid buffs, world buffs and consumables are left out, so every spec starts from the same place. Every run uses the same random seed, so the page always shows exactly the number in the ranking.

The race

Racials are part of the sim. Every damage and healing spec is simulated as each race it can be in WoW: Forever, and the ranking uses the best one - shown next to the spec - with its racials included: Blood Fury, Berserking and Elune's Light on the pull, and passives such as Human and Orc crit, Dwarf and Tauren critical damage and Skyborne haste (racials as changed on 16 October 2026). Tanks are race-neutral. In Sim DPS and Find Upgrades your own character's race is used, or any race you pick in Options.

Your own character

Your gear, talents and play are different from these, and so is your number. To see yours, paste your armory link or addon export into Sim DPS, or find the items that would raise it in Find Upgrades.
